So you want to try your hand at DIY nail art but where do you start? The first thing you need to do is get your hands on some basic nail art tools. This is a list of my 5 essential DIY nail art tools.
Plus some simple and classy designed manicures can really add a touch of style and complement the outfit of even the most conservative women. If youre a beginner and want to start doing your manicure designs at home youll want to start putting together some nail art supplies like simple tools and accessories. Youll actually need most of these items even as a beginner nail artist. Some of the supplies and tools that you might want to have on hand are files buffers nail art brushes orange sticks storage containers nail tips or full well nails and nail glue if youre using artificial nails.
1) Nail polish The essentials are: a base coat (to prevent nail discolouration and allow your nail polish to glide on smoothly) nail polish and a top coat (to ensure your manicure lasts for more than a day). I like to use a quick drying top coat cos that saves oodles of time and is so convenient to use but its also good to have a normal top coat or clear polish in hand for certain more complex nail designs.
Nail stamping kits are just one way to get unique and salon-looking designs quickly and easily. Now one advantage of going to a salon to have a technician either freehand or by using a stencil and air-brush apply unique nail designs to your nails is that the technician is able to use both hands to work on your hands. The art may come out looking more defined and professional as well. But on the other hand it can start costing you a lot of bucks to keep it up.
After trying loads of different brands Ive found that its so important to invest in good quality nail polish. These are more expensive but theyre worth it cos they last longer dry faster and dont get lumpy. Ive had such bad experiences with cheap nail polish that now Im just sticking to brands that Ive used before (and like) and reputable brands. Orly OPI China Glaze Sally Hansen and Essie are some of the good ones. Its also a good idea to test out polish from a brand youve not tried before buying it.
The most technically advanced form of nail art is the use of special computerized digital printers that print designs and patterns that would not be possible otherwise or would be much more expensive for an artist to do it by hand. This technology is definitely the future for nail art and will allow women to finally be able to affordably design their nails as the ultimate accessory. They will be able to match their nails to their wardrobes sense of style and personality that was never before possible.
